A Wham! documentary will soon be coming to Netflix.
Andrew Ridgeley, 59, who sang alongside legendary late singer George Michael in the 80s pop group, is working alongside the streaming giant to help make it.
The documentary promises to give fans an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at their ups and downs as a musical duo during the height of their fame.
‘The Netflix team jumped at the chance to make this film,’ a source said. ‘The Wham! story is an incredible one and who better to offer insight than Andrew?’
‘It is a really exciting project, and they are putting a lot of resources into it. Andrew is also very keen for the opportunity to look back over his years with George in the band – though it will, of course, be bittersweet for him.’
The news comes ahead of the June 22 release of George Michael: Freedom Uncut, an extended version of the 2017 documentary about the Careless Whisper singer’s career.
The singer had been working on the Freedom documentary before his untimely death.
Michael died on Christmas Day in 2016, aged 53, after a career that spanned four decades and produced countless smash hits.
The upcoming Wham! documentary will pay tribute to Andrew’s former bandmate and friend, and the success they shared together.
‘It is a welcome chance to celebrate what they achieved together and will give fans a unique look behind the scenes,’ an insider said.
And fans are already excited at the news. ‘Cannot wait! I’m so glad Andy is a part of it so there will be no errors or b*******!’, one commented.
‘Good news! Something to look forward to,’ said another.
